The last time I wrote a blog post, I was a student at the University of Rochester, mostly writing about little JavaScript tips and tricks I was picking up as I got my life in tech started in 2013. That was a very cold winter, if memory serves me.

Why I created this space in 2026

In one sense, it feels a bit silly to start blogging now, of all times. After all, most folks spend their time on a handful of social media platforms, and do not β€œsurf the web” like me and my fellow geezers (said with love, and the reflection of someone who just turned 30) did back in the 2000s.

Where I was the last time I wrote a blog post…

I don’t expect this space to reach many folks, or benefit me in some material sense. But it feels nice to create a little archive for myself and the things I spend my time on this Earth doing. And it feels nicer to write here rather than on one of the ever-changing social media platforms like Instagram, where there’s very little incentive for the algoritm to present folks with content that isn’t some combination of horny, sensationalized, or rage-inducing.

What I’ll probably write about

Thought I’m sure I’ll touch on fun topics like software development and music, as I spend a lot of time in those spaces, I also want to write about some things near and dear to my heart that can’t be reduced down to simply advertising my skills to the world.

Things like:

  1. Grappling with the impact of AI as a tech worker
  2. The often isolating nature of modern life
  3. Social phenomena I observe around me
  4. Life in New York City
  5. Struggles related to being transgender, when interesting
